The primary joy of escaping outdoors with my camera is the variety and abundance of subjects in our natural world. The largest part of an outing's allure is the anticipation of what will catch my attention on any particular day. I may have my heart set on locating a Great Gray Owl pursuing its morning meal and find the wise owls have vanished, leaving me helplessly redirected to a green grasshopper slowly awakening on a chilly evergreen limb. I am so grateful for the diverse encounters I have experienced. Every now and then my eye inadvertently latches onto a certain subject and for reasons I can not explain, I find myself repeatedly drawn back to the subject, finding immense joy in studying it from different angles, in different seasons, and from different perspectives. In a strange way we grow together...please meet The Gate.
